Hello! My name is Katherine, and I am a senior double-majoring in Integrative Biology and Psychology. I joined ULAB to gain hands-on experience with academic writing and literature reviews, and my primary academic interests are in reproductive health and cardiology. I also enjoy playing pickleball, running, and baking!

My name is Aarti Anand and I am a junior studying Molecular and Cell Biology and Data Science. I joined ULAB to develop my own research ideas as well as learn from the perspectives of other researchers around me. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, learning languages and playing the piano and violin!

I'm Christopher Lee and I am a third-year studying Neuroscience and Data Science. I joined ULAB freshman year as a research mentor and now I'm excited to hopefully engage more students with a better understanding of research, especially on the statistical and computational tools and topics. Outside of Berkeley, I run club TF/XC and am a huge insufferable nerd about culinary science, oenology, and jazz theory.

Joining ULAB in my second year was instrumental in introducing me to the field of research and providing access to various lab and research opportunities at UC Berkeley. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, hiking, camping, and spending time with family and friends!

I joined ULAB to foster an environment that emphasizes visionary scientific research and to share these opportunities with the broader public. Beyond the scope of research, my free time is mainly devoted to poetry, music, traveling, and spending time with my family!

Hey! My name is Jeffrey Chen and I am a third-year studying Molecular and Cell Biology with a minor in Data Science and CalTeach. I joined ULAB sophomore year as a research mentee to gain experience in academic research and developing a research topic. I am really interested in discovering new therapeutic methods to target specific diseases. Outside of school, I enjoy playing volleyball, traveling, exploring the food scene, and learning more about cars.

I love spending time with friends and writing blog posts in my free time :) I’ve also always been interested in public health research and the healthcare disparity-related barriers it can expose and break — this is exactly why I joined ULab PHHS and I’m super excited to be serving on the board this year!

Hi my name is Jaszmyn Paiste Ponder and I am a recent graduate from the Public Health program Class of 2024. My hobbies include sports/exercise (basketball, volleybal, tennis, and walking my dog), watching movies, painting, and listening to music. I joined ULAB as a mentee in my junior year (2023) and had a great experience getting my feet wet in academic research. My goal is to become an epidemiologist in the future where I plan on researching health equity in healthcare and public health, infectious disease surveillance and outbreak, and public health intervention effectiveness. I am excited to share some insight and engage with students’ ideas and research journeys!

Hello everyone! My name is Ariana Chavez, and I'm a junior majoring in Conservation and Resource Studies. My focus is on ocean afforestation and conservation, specifically targeting CO2 levels. I'm a big music enthusiast and love hiking in my spare time. I'm incredibly excited to join the ULAB board this year and can't wait to dive into all the amazing work ahead!
